April 2003 – April 2005

  • Served as Chief Executive Officer for this 1,400 student, regionally accredited, multi-campus, associate degree granting institution.  Over a two-year period
  • (FYE 02- FYE 04), achieved the following financial accomplishments:

– Led the institution to a 12% EBITA margin improvement
– Improved student retention 8.57%
– Decreased bad debt from 4.4% to 2.8%
– Reduced Days Sales Outstanding from 42 to 16
– Achieved first-ever 100% cash collection in the first month of a quarter

  • Established President’s Mentoring program for the Presidents of campus student organizations
  • Obtained blanket Associate Degree approval in 2003 and rolled out three new degree programs in 2003/2004    (Professional Photography, Medical Lab Technician, and    Fashion Merchandising) and a concentration in Crime Scene Investigation for the Criminal Justice program, and revitalized the Associate degree in Accounting
  • Designed and managed the renovation of 18,000 square foot building to provide Massage Therapy Clinic, administrative offices, Medical Lab and classrooms
  • Led the institution through a successful 5th year New England Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation visit (October 2003)
  • Acquired State of Maine approval for in-state recruiting    (April 2004) to expand market for the institution
  • Began process for Bachelor Degree granting authority to State of New Hampshire Postsecondary Education Commission (November 2004)
  • Restructured the organization to provide a broad base of management expertise through an executive team
  • Revised By-laws for the Board of Directors, and expanded board membership to increase community representation
  • Led local technology initiatives to provide student and faculty portals and on-line enrollment and financial aid processing and an institutional Intranet

  • Developed short-term training and cohort programs in nurse assisting, medical transcription, and tour guiding
  • Improved marketing and recruiting cycle increasing annual lead conversions by 4% and reducing related expenses for collateral
  • Improved financial performance of the college in net income and cash flow through strategic enrollment, staffing, and cost-cutting initiatives
  • Managed 520+ student, regionally accredited campus with approximately 60 full- and part-time staff and faculty
  • Successfully navigated institution through ownership transition
  • Developed technical training partnership with V-TEC  increasing institutional capacity to offer industry certification programs and upgrade technical program without capital expense and initiated strategic partnership for student placement with nationally recognized staffing company    (Manpower Staffing)

  • Managed campus of 430+ students
  • Developed, received accreditation approval, and brought to    market four new associate degrees and two (one-year)    certificate programs in four years
  • Developed and implemented curriculum, accreditation and    financial aid policies and procedures
  • Developed and updated curriculum for Computer Support    Specialist degree (the college’s fastest growing degree    program and the first Microsoft Authorized Academic    Training Program (AATP) in the State of Maine)
  • Developed a Microsoft Authorized Testing Center for MCP    and MOUS certification exams
  • Negotiated with the Maine Department of Labor, Bureau of    Apprenticeship training to garner the first apprenticeship    agreement with a proprietary college
  • Negotiated 2+2 transfer credit agreements with Husson,    Thomas, and UMA
  • Led an enrollment increase of 20% over prior year
